Local "No On Question 1" Campaigning Activities |
The campaign for No On Question 1 is in need of your help during the next several days prior to the election. If Question 1 passes it would eliminate the state income tax, resulting in a 40 percent cut instate revenues. We must defeat Question 1, and we cannot take this vote for granted. Six years ago 45 percent of voters voted to eliminate the state income tax. ADTC Chair Leo Maley details a host of things you can do. Find out how you can help out.

Meeting Agenda for September 18, 2008 |
The Amherst Democratic Town Committee meets this Thursday, September 18 , at 7 p.m. at the Bang's Community Center's Pole Room — NOT in the Jones Library.
All Democrats are welcome.
Our meeting agenda will focus on two items:
1) Local Obama campaign efforts and volunteer opportunities;
2) Defeating Question One -- the November ballot initiative that, were it to pass, would eliminate the state income tax (which makes up 40% of all state revenues. For information about the No On One Campaign, see http://votenoquestion1.com or attend the Amherst No On One Campaign kickoff this Tuesday (9/16) at Noon in the UMass Campus Center.
Remember to vote in the state Democratic primary on Tuesday, September 16. This is a pretty low-key election for us locally since neither Stan Rosenberg nor Ellen Story have primary challengers. However, it is important to remember that we have a primary contest this year for U.S. Senate (John Kerry's current seat; Ed O'Reilly, challenger) and Congress (John Olver's current seat; Bob Feuer, challenger).
